About PESU
Objects that were something else first.
Grass that grew in Odisha and was sun-dried, twisted into rope and braided by hand. Marble cut from a block and finished until it is cool and honest to the touch. Bamboo woven into a shade that throws uneven shadows across a wall.
We look for objects that carry the evidence of the person who made them. That means colour, texture and finish vary from one piece to the next — a fact we would rather state plainly than photograph around. It is not a defect. It is the reason to buy the thing at all.
Everything is chosen to work in a calm room: few materials, small scale, nothing that shouts. Priced so that a considered object is an ordinary purchase rather than an event.

Handmade variation
Colour, texture, size and finish differ slightly from piece to piece. Natural materials behave that way, and we do not consider it a fault.

Living with it
Three short notes
Dust it dry, and let it age
A soft, dry cloth is all it needs. Stone takes on the character of the room it sits in — that is the point of it.
Keep the weave out of wet
Dust gently with a dry cloth. Woven bamboo, cane and sabai grass are happiest away from steam and direct water.
No polish, no solvents
Wipe with a soft dry cloth only. Painted surfaces do not want cleaning products, and they do not need them.
